Create a Feng Shui Bedroom For An Energizing Sleep
When creating a feng shui bedroom, the primary goal is to create a place where you feel safe and secure so that you may sleep and revitalize yourself for the coming day. To begin, the bedroom itself should be as far from the front door as possible, in order to separate your resting place from the outside world.
A Feng Shui Bed
The first step to creating a feng shui bedroom that is comfortable and welcoming, open to romance and sleep inducing, is to begin with your bed. The best feng shui positioning for your bed is far from the entrance but with a view of the door. If this view is impossible due to the layout of the room, place a mirror so that anyone entering or leaving the room is visible to you from the bed, giving you greater security.
Keeping Your Chi
Chi is energy, and in feng shui the goal is to keep as much chi as possible in your bedroom while you sleep so that you will wake up refreshed and recharged. Flowing from your door through to your windows (and back) is the current of chi. Your goal is to keep your bed out of this path and your head from resting near the window, keep your chi with you and restful so that you wake up energized instead of more tired.
To keep your chi with you while you sleep, opt for a strong and sturdy headboard. This will give you a strong support at your back, the support of the mountains, and allow your chi to recharge. Chi enters and leaves your body through the top of your head, the bottom of your feet, and your hands. Avoid brass headboards, however, as they are known to cut chi.
Other chi cutting or sucking bedroom decorations to avoid for a feng shui effect include ceiling beams, tables with sharp edges (as opposed to round), and mirrors placed at the foot of the bed. Veil ceiling beams with draped fabric, keep matching bedside tables with round edges – one on either side of the bed – for balance, and place mirrors so that you cannot see your reflection while you sleep.
Keep doors to any closets, bathrooms, or toilet room closed. This, too, boxes in the chi so that it doesn’t escape.
The Energizing Romance of a Feng Shui Bedroom
A romantic partner can be one of the most energizing feng shui accoutrements you can have. In order to maintain the balance in the relationship and also your nighttime chi, make a note of the following for the optimal 2-person feng shui bedroom:
- Make sure that both partners have an equal amount of space on their side of the bed. Never push the bed up against one wall or the partner who sleeps on that side will feel boxed in, literally and in the relationship.
- Make sure your bed is sturdy. A rickety bed that may fall apart at any moment signifies a relationship that, also, may not last through the night.
- By keeping your feng shui bedroom clutter free, you ensure that the chi in the room has low, still energy and is available to rejuvenate yours and your partner’s love and life through nightly sleep.
