Feng Shui Decorating Tips

Feng Shui tips can harmonize your home and your family very easily when you are decorating. For instance, have you considered the atmosphere of a room? Look beyond its decor to things that we cannot see or explain, but that influence the state of your emotions. Create spaces where you will feel at peace with yourself and your thoughts. Listen to your instincts rather than a designer and you will create a space that works for the inner you.

If it’s a shared space, then be prepared for compromises when using Feng Shui tips for decorating. One person’s passion for a selected piece of art may not be another person’s passion. Keep this in mind when you are redoing a room. Work the art in so that both can live with and take enjoyment from it. For the family, select a color that everyone agrees on and incorporate it into each room in small ways. You can mix details from several cultures

When you’re trying to design a stress-free home using Feng Shui, it is important to acknowledge each person’s need for space and privacy. Large open areas will encourage a sense of freedom, where a small cozy space will be ideal for relaxation and moments of being alone. The most important thing that you can do to a room is to keep comfort and convenience in mind. That is why most of today’s designers are looking to the philosophies of Feng Shui for their inspiration. They learn how to direct the flow of the home so that harmony rules.

Our sense of unity proportion and balance will often have a big influence on how we decorate a room until it feels “just right”. For example, if you put the wrong kind of picture on a long wall, it can upset the balance of harmony. If you place a dresser at the wrong side of a room, it can make it look lopsided. However, you shouldn’t let organization lead you to do a room that is boring. Play with the line, shape and form of a room to achieve the pattern that makes you feeling comfortable there.

We all know that color affects the ambiance of a room, so use healing colors drawn from the earth, sea, and sky. Along with the right lighting you can open up a space that will be beautiful to feel as well as see. Some other Feng Shui tips you can use for a room include:

  • Wind chimes - they can add a wonderful feeling to a room
  • The scent of lavender for feeling soothing and even
  • The scent of strawberries for feeling energized

The most important thing is that if you feel right about it then that is for you. Always go with your instincts.
