Feng Shui - The Chinese Art of Placement
According to feng shui, if you want to rearrange your life, start by rearranging your furniture.
According to the ancient Chinese practice of feng shui, if you change your surroundings, you can change your life. Part common sense, part mysticism, part interior design, feng shui isn't just an ancient Chinese secret anymore. The cat's out of the bag in the United States.
In California, real estate developers know all about feng shui - even how to pronounce it (fung shway). They've been incorporating it into design plans for years to satisfy Asian investors.
But now the concept is branching out. First it hit the hip and the happening - the same folks who embraced tofu, yoga and herbal medications. Now, it's spreading to rather conservative spots. |

The home section of just about any local bookstore will reveal dozens of titles - most of them called something like "Feng Shui Made Easy."
Thousands of pages on the World Wide Web discuss the subject.
National designers are hiring feng shui consultants. Oprah is talking it up on her show. Donald Trump reportedly won't develop a project unless it meets feng shui standards.
To nonbelievers, folks who embrace feng shui can come off as crackpots. It's just not easy to swallow the idea, for example, that if you have a toilet in the wrong place in your home, your fortune could be flushed away. Or if your front door isn't a proper entryway for positive energy, called chi, your entire life could be off-kilter.
On the flip side, feng shui proponents think anyone who doesn't build a home to jibe with feng shui is nuts. They say that just because feng shui can't be measured, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
